📌 Overview
Instagram Import is part of our Social Syndication feature. It lets you connect your Instagram account and import your existing Instagram posts directly into your client portal, where they can be used as reviews on your website.
💡 When Might You Want to Use This?
- Reuse content you've already posted on Instagram as reviews, instead of collecting new ones
- Quickly build out review content using posts you've already created
- Tag products on your Instagram content so it can be showcased in Hue modules
🪜 Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Connect Your Instagram Account
- In the left-hand panel, click the Asset Gallery tab.
- Click Connect.
- Follow the prompts to connect your Instagram account.
Once you've successfully connected, you'll be taken to the My Instagram tab, where you'll see all the posts synced from your account.
Within My Instagram, your posts are organized into two tabs:
- Imported — posts you've already imported into your portal
- Not Imported — posts you haven't imported yet
You can use the filter on the right-hand side of the screen to sort posts by newest or oldest.
2. Import Assets
- From the My Instagram tab, click Select Mode in the top-right corner.
- Select the post(s) you'd like to import — you can choose one or several at a time.
- Click Import Selected.
For example, you might select two posts and click Import Selected to bring them into your portal.
Once imported, these posts will appear under the Imported tab.
3. Review Your Imported Assets
Open the Imported tab to see everything you've brought in from Instagram, organized into the following views:
Needs Product Tagging Assets that haven't been tagged with a product yet. You'll see a label at the bottom of the asset that reads "No product tagged."
Product Tagged Assets that already have a product and variant tagged. You can click into any of these to make changes — such as updating the tagged product or the playlist it's featured on.
Rights Requests Assets for which usage rights have been requested from the creator. If you have an asset that requires creator permission before it can be used, you can submit that request here. If this tab is empty, there's nothing that needs your attention.
Expiring Soon Assets whose usage rights will expire within the next 10 days.
Expired Assets whose usage rights have already expired.
4. Tag a Product on an Asset
- Click into the asset you'd like to tag. This opens a window with the video and the asset's details.
- Use the Product/Variant dropdown to select the product you want to tag.
- Select the correct variant, then click Save.
- Tag an existing creator, or use Quick Add to add a new one.
- If you'd like, assign the asset to one of your existing playlists.
- You can also add a written review — this step is optional.
5. Save Your Changes
Once you've finished tagging, choose one of the following:
- Save as Draft — saves your work without publishing it live.
- Save and Approve — publishes the asset live on your site.
⚙️ Settings
Your integration settings are shared between Instagram and TikTok. This article covers the Instagram side.
- Click Settings in the top-right corner to open Integration Settings.
- Under Social Media, select the Instagram tab.
From here, you can:
- View the Instagram account currently connected to your portal
- Disconnect your current account or connect a different one
- Set your auto-import preference from the dropdown: last month, last 3 months, last 6 months, last 12 months, all time, or do not auto-import (if you'd rather import manually)
You can update these preferences at any time.
This same window also lets you connect or disconnect TikTok accounts, TikTok Business accounts, and TikTok/Instagram hashtags.
To register Instagram hashtags, you'll first need to connect an Instagram Business account through Facebook. Click Connect via Facebook, then follow the Facebook login prompts to complete the connection.
🛠️ Troubleshooting
Instagram won't connect Make sure you're completing each step of the connection flow in order, without skipping any authorization prompts.
An asset shows "No product tagged" This simply means it hasn't been tagged yet — click into the asset and follow the tagging steps above.
An imported asset isn't showing on my site Double-check that it was saved using Save and Approve rather than Save as Draft.
I can't register Instagram hashtags Make sure your Instagram account is connected as a Business account through Facebook, not a personal account.
