🎬 How to Set Up and Use Playlists

📌 Overview

Playlists allow you to create a curated collection of review videos pulled from your products. You can then display these playlists on your website (such as homepage, collection pages, or product pages) using an embed code or by assigning the playlist directly to products.

💡 When Might You Want To Use This?

  • Creating a Best Sellers Playlist to feature on a Homepage or Collection Page.
  • Creating a Playlist that includes all colorways of a single product.
  • Displaying multiple products that are featured within a Bundle or Gift Basket

🪜 Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Access the Playlists Section

  1. Log in to the admin portal.
  2. In the left-hand menu, go to Products.
  3. Click Playlists.

You will see the main Playlists page where all existing playlists are listed.

2. Create a New Playlist

  1. Click the Create Playlist button (top right).
  2. Enter a Playlist Name (e.g., “Homepage Videos”).
  3. Choose how you want to build your playlist:
    • ⭐ Recommended (Auto-add from products) Automatically pulls approved review videos from selected products (recommended option).
    • Manually Select Reviews You choose individual reviews/videos.
    • Start Empty Create an empty playlist and add reviews later.
  4. Select Recommended / Auto-add from products (for most use cases).

3. Select Products for the Playlist

  1. Choose the products whose reviews/videos should populate the playlist.
  2. You can select one or multiple products.
  3. Click Continue.

The system will automatically pull approved review videos from these products.

4. Assign Playlist to Products (Optional Step)

This step controls where the playlist will appear on your website.

  1. Select products where you want the playlist displayed.
  2. In the Playlist dropdown, select the playlist you just created.
  3. Confirm selection (you’ll see a visual indicator showing it has been applied).
  4. Click Apply Playlist to Selected Products.

5. Manage Playlist Content (Reviews Tab)

Inside your created playlist, you will land on the Reviews tab.

Here you can:

  • Reorder videos by dragging and dropping them.
  • Star videos to prioritize order.
  • Sort reviews using dropdown options:
    • Featured reviews first
    • Newest reviews first
    • Highest rating first
  • Review statuses:
    • Approved (visible in playlist)
    • Draft (not visible until approved)
    • Rejected (excluded from playlist)
  • Approve draft reviews if needed.

6. Playlist Configuration Settings

Go to the Playlist Configuration tab to customize behavior.

You can:

  • Edit playlist name
  • Set a Playlist ID (used for development/embedding)
  • Choose which reviews to display:
    • All reviews
    • Featured reviews only
    • Manually selected reviews
  • Set review ordering rules (default: featured reviews first)

Add-to-Cart Settings

Choose how product links behave in review videos:

  • Display tagged products (only products tagged in the review)
  • Display all related products (shows all associated products)

7. Embed Playlist on Your Website

To display the playlist anywhere on your site:

  1. Click Copy Embed Code (bottom right of configuration page).
  2. A modal will open with:
    • A script (connects to the playlist API)
    • A div containing your Playlist ID
  3. Choose display type:
    • Mini module
    • Large module
  4. Copy the code and paste it into your website page.

⚠️ Note: For the time being, a “shell” product must be created on our end with a custom external product ID. Please reach out to our team to have this set up for you. This ID is then passed into the embed code to allow the module to render correctly on the page. Engineering is currently working on an update that will remove this requirement. This will be available in the near future and will make the embed feature fully self-serve through the client portal.

8. Manage Products in the Playlist

You can adjust which products feed into the playlist:

  • Click Add More Products to expand the playlist.
  • View products in the Products with this Playlist section.
  • Click Configure Playlists on More Products to assign additional products.
  • Remove products from:
    • Playlist assignment
    • Auto-add rule

9. Delete a Playlist (If Needed)

  1. Go to the playlist configuration page.
  2. Click Delete Playlist (top right).
  3. Confirm deletion in the popup.

⚠️ This action cannot be undone.

10. Assign a Playlist from a Product Page

You can also assign a playlist directly from a product:

  1. Go to Products and open a product.
  2. Navigate to the Product Information tab.
  3. Under Review Configuration, find Display Playlist.
  4. Select the desired playlist from the dropdown.
  5. Save changes.

This will display the selected playlist on that product page.

🛠️ Troubleshooting

Playlist is empty

  • Ensure selected products have approved review videos.
  • Check that reviews are not in Draft or Rejected status.

Playlist not showing on website

  • Confirm embed code was copied correctly.
  • Ensure the Playlist ID is included in the embed snippet.
  • Verify the playlist is assigned correctly.

Videos not in correct order

  • Check drag-and-drop ordering and star prioritization.
  • Ensure no conflicting sorting rules (e.g., newest first overriding manual order).
